anna.yhshihWhile I am planning a new collection for the 2023 Spring/summer season coincidently on Earth Day, I rethink the meaning of garments. Should we follow the fad or do something that impacts the environment better but is less fancy? From the company’s view, the trendy items can stimulate the urge of wanting but may create many stocks and unwanted clothes being thrown away when the fad is gone. However, the timeless and sturdy pieces could mean struggling sales because wearing needs have been fulfilled.
Well, it’s a dilemma. Mainly some promotions or new products are launched to celebrate Earth Day; they look to encourage people to purchase more items. I was doubtful about the day’s meaning, or it was just another sales event for businesses.
However, profits are crucial for running a company sustainably and keeping staff with enough money to maintain their lives. There is no correct answer at all. But we can think deeply about what the planet does mean to us on this day.
